About the Educators

Dr. Lisa Barrett is the Director of the company’s Oconee Area Office which is located at 1022 Twelve Oaks Place off of Hog Mountain Road in Watkinsville, Georgia. A former college professor and administrator, Dr. Barrett has educational experience in the fields of English Education and college counseling.

As Oconee Education and Prep’s writing coach, she works with students of all ages helping them to become writers with great skill and a love for writing. Her other role is that of college and career counselor. Her past experience as a member Columbia University’s admissions committee gives her a unique perspective on the college application process. She will individualize a solid college plan for high school students preparing for higher education.

Leslie B. Jones is the Educational Consultant responsible for elementary and middle school services. Her primary role is to provide reading diagnostic guidance with students needing intervention or enrichment. Mrs. Jones, an award winning educator, has over twenty years experience as a teacher in area public schools at both the elementary and middle school levels.

She holds a BS in Early Childhood Education, a MS in Middle School Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and is currently completing a Specialist degree in Reading and Literacy Coaching. She also holds a National Certification as a Middle School Generalist and is ESOL certified. She brings a wealth of knowledge in reading and math assessment, organizational and study skills, test preparation and transition coaching.

With Mrs. Jones’s strong background in elementary and middle school education and Dr. Barrett’s in higher education, the Oconee Education and Prep team is able to provide a full range of one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction at all levels.

The colleagues are both exceptionally knowledgeable in their disciplines and engaging in their work with students from grades Pre-K-12.
